SKEA PAC Makes Candidate Recommendations

Members of the SKEA Political Action Committee—SKEA PAC– along with SKACE and Mid-Valley met for 10 hours over two evenings interviewing candidates running for open seats in local districts. The teams interviewed democrats and republicans for a variety of positions.

The SKEA PAC is a separate entity from SKEA, governed by their own by-laws and elected board comprised of SKEA members. The purpose of the PAC is to promote candidates who hold views and will promote public education issues in the political arenas.

SKEA-PAC School Board Candidate Recommendations

The Salem Keizer Education Association Political Action Committee (SKEA-PAC)
along with representatives from SKACE met on April 21, 2009 to interview school board
candidates. There are four open seats and the following recommendations were made:

Zone 1: Chris Brantley. Current director, Bobby Mink chose not to run again.
Zone 3: Patrick Sieng. Current director Hanten Day chose not to run again.
Zone 5: Rick Kimball (incumbent)
Zone 7: Ron Jones (incumbent)

Although School Board directors represent a zone or area of Salem or Keizer, elections
